The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 37-year-old man, Anthony Kosisochukwu Okafor, for allegedly killing his elder brother, Emmanuel Okafor, following a domestic altercation in Abagana, Njikoka Local Government Area.

According to a statement issued on Saturday by the Command’s spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga, the arrest was carried out by operatives from the Abagana Divisional Headquarters in collaboration with local vigilante groups.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect and the deceased had an argument over household food supplies, which escalated into a physical confrontation.

During the altercation, Kosisochukwu allegedly struck his brother in the chest with a stick. Emmanuel was immediately rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead by medical personnel.

Describing the incident as “deeply troubling,” the police urged families to adopt peaceful conflict resolution strategies to prevent tragic consequences arising from domestic disputes.

The case has now been handed over to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department in Awka, and the suspect will be arraigned in court upon the completion of the investigation.
