The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has dismissed claims in a viral video suggesting that the Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) dispensed at its retail outlets is of low quality.

In a statement issued by its Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Olufemi Soneye, NNPC Ltd. described the allegations as baseless and misleading, emphasizing that its fuel meets high-quality standards.

Soneye explained that the claims in the video were derived from unverified, amateur research that lacked professional oversight, making them entirely unreliable.

“NNPC reaffirms that its fuel is carefully formulated with one of the best compositions, ensuring optimal efficiency, durability, and environmental sustainability for consumers,” he stated.

He further noted that a large portion of the PMS sold at NNPC retail stations in Lagos, where the misleading video was allegedly recorded, is sourced from the Dangote Refinery, a key partner in promoting local production and energy security.

“The Dangote Refinery adheres to strict industry standards, guaranteeing the quality of petroleum products supplied to our consumers.

“This misleading video represents yet another desperate attempt by economic saboteurs to misinform the public and tarnish NNPC Ltd’s reputation.

“We will not tolerate deliberate misinformation designed to undermine our operations and mislead Nigerians,” Soneye warned.

He also revealed that NNPC Ltd. would begin taking legal action against individuals or groups who intentionally spread falsehoods about its brand and operations.

“Those engaged in such malicious activities will be held fully accountable under the law,” he asserted.

Urging Nigerians to ignore the misleading video, Soneye encouraged the public to rely on credible sources for accurate information.

“The NNPC Ltd. remains steadfast in its mission to ensure fuel availability, affordability, and quality for all Nigerians while maintaining global industry standards,” he said.
