FirstBank, West Africa’s foremost financial institution, has commenced the construction of its new green-certified headquarters in Eko Atlantic City, Lagos.

The groundbreaking ceremony marks a major milestone in the bank’s 130-year legacy of innovation and sustainability.

The ambitious 40-story skyscraper, set to be the tallest building in Nigeria, is designed to be a cutting-edge, eco-friendly structure.

With advanced sustainability features, the new headquarters will reduce operational costs while reinforcing FirstBank’s leadership in sustainable banking.

Speaking at the event, FirstBank Group CEO, Olusegun Alebiosu, emphasized the significance of the project: This new headquarters symbolizes our commitment to innovation, customer satisfaction, and environmental responsibility. Beyond serving as a world-class financial hub, it will contribute to economic growth and create long-term value for our stakeholders.”

Chairman of FirstHoldCo, Femi Otedola, highlighted the importance of collaboration in realizing the vision: This project is a testament to our unwavering commitment to excellence. We appreciate the support of our customers, partners, and government stakeholders in making this dream a reality.”

The ceremony attracted high-profile dignitaries, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, lawmakers, state governors, federal ministers, and business leaders. Their presence underscored the strategic importance of the development to Nigeria’s financial and economic landscape.
