A firefighting truck rushing to combat a tanker explosion in Kontagora, Niger State, was involved in an accident on Sunday.
Eyewitnesses reported that the truck lost control and skidded off the road while making its way to the scene of the explosion.
One witness said “While one problem is ongoing, another one arises. A fire service truck responding to the fire incident had an accident on its way to the current outbreak at the A.A Rano filling station near Kontagora General Hospital.”
The incident occurred when a petrol tanker caught fire while offloading Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) at the filling station located in the Hannun Riga area, near the General Hospital in Kontagora, the headquarters of Kontagora Local Government Area.
According to residents, the fire started around 7 pm, causing panic as workers and passersby fled for safety.
Abba Mohammed, a resident, confirmed that no casualties were recorded.
