Senate President Godswill Akpabio has expressed confidence that Kano State is already secured for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections, citing the strategic influence of key party leaders.
He attributed this to the roles played by Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, and Senator Basheer Lado, Special Adviser to the President on Senate Matters.
During a visit to Senator Lado at the National Assembly, Akpabio commended him for his role in facilitating confidential and effective communication between the Executive and the Senate, describing his efforts as unprecedented.
“With the Deputy Senate President, the National Chairman of APC, and your strategic influence, Kano is already secured for the APC ahead of 2027,” Akpabio stated.
He emphasized the importance of information security in governance, warning that leaks could have serious consequences for national security and decision-making.
“Since Senator Lado assumed office, there has not been a single leakage of private communication between the Presidency and the Senate,” Akpabio noted, highlighting Lado’s role in maintaining the integrity of official correspondence.
“In government, information security is crucial. Where official business is conducted on the pages of newspapers and social media due to leaks, it undermines national security. I commend you for upholding the integrity of this office and ensuring effective governance,” he added.
Akpabio also praised Lado’s contributions to fostering cooperation between the Executive and the Legislature, which he said has improved governance.
“Your performance over the last eight months has been outstanding. You have strengthened the synergy between the Executive and the Legislature, making governance more effective.”
In response, Senator Lado expressed his appreciation for Akpabio’s leadership and his efforts in promoting collaboration between both arms of government.
“Mr. Senate President, your presence here is a testament to the harmony between the Executive and the Legislature. It reflects a shared vision and leadership anchored on service to the nation,” Lado remarked.
He also commended Akpabio for his commitment to President Bola Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda, emphasizing the Senate President’s dedication to advancing government policies through legislative action.
“You have not only supported the President but have championed his renewed Hope agenda with conviction, defending it with clarity, articulating it with passion, and driving its implementation through legislative action.”
