Gov. Mbah,

The Enugu State Government has directed the immediate removal of all indecent and obscene artworks displayed along roads within the state.

Citing concerns over public morals and the protection of children, the government described such artworks as a violation of the Child’s Rights Law of Enugu State and warned that offenders would face legal consequences.

The directive was issued on Friday by the Commissioner for Children, Gender Affairs, and Social Development, Mrs. Ngozi Enih, in a strongly worded statement.

“You are, by this, ordered to take down, without delay, all indecent and obscene artworks and pictures on display on Enugu roads. You are also warned to henceforth cease the exhibition of indecent and obscene artworks and pictures on Enugu roads,” the statement read.

The commissioner emphasized that such displays undermine public morality and decency, adding, “Those indecent and obscene artworks and pictures are detrimental to public morals and decency. They also offend the provisions of the Child’s Rights Law of Enugu State, 2016.”

She further warned that any individual or business found exhibiting such artworks would face immediate arrest, prosecution, and possible forfeiture of the offending materials.

“Any of such pictures or artworks found on display at your stand will warrant your immediate arrest, prosecution, and possible forfeiture of such works of art. Consider this letter as the first and final warning on this issue,” the statement concluded.
