Nigerian boxer Segun Olanrewaju has tragically passed away after collapsing during a match in Ghana on Saturday.

Olanrewaju was competing against Ghanaian boxer Jon Mbanugu at Fight Night 15 of the Ghana Professional Boxing League, held at the Bukom Boxing Arena, when he lost consciousness mid-fight.

A viral video circulating online shows the moment he collapsed in the ring.

Despite immediate efforts to revive him, the 40-year-old was pronounced dead shortly after, bringing a heartbreaking end to his career.

With a professional record of 24 fights, including 13 wins, 8 losses, and 3 draws, Olanrewaju had made a name for himself in the boxing world.

He held both the National and West African light-heavyweight titles, earning respect within Nigeria and across the region.

His sudden passing has left the boxing community in mourning, with tributes pouring in to honor his contributions to the sport.

Olanrewaju’s death comes two years after another Nigerian boxer, Chukwuemeka Igboanugo, lost his life at the National Sports Festival (NSF) in Delta.

Igboanugo suffered a fatal technical knockout (TKO) after receiving a heavy punch to the nose from his opponent.
