A police officer from Kaduna State, Hadaina Hussaini Dan-Taki, has issued a threat of retaliation against southerners living in northern Nigeria following the brutal killings of 16 northerners in Uromi, Esan North East Local Government Area of Edo State.

Dan-Taki’s comments, made on Facebook on Tuesday, were in response to the attack, and he vowed that northerners would take decisive action against southerners.

In a passionate post, he wrote, “I swear to Almighty God, we must do something for you guys, have you forgotten all your brothers that are leaving here in the North? Make my word, after one week you shall see the result.”

The police officer’s remarks attracted immediate backlash, leading him to alter his Facebook profile.

He changed his first name and restricted access to his posts, limiting the visibility of his comments.

One X (formerly Twitter) user, Uche, shared a screenshot of Dan-Taki’s threatening post and tagged Force Public Relations Officer Olumuyiwa Adejobi, urging action.

The tweet read, “#Princemoye1, take care of this sir.”

Adejobi responded promptly, acknowledging the matter, saying, “Noted for necessary action. Thanks.”

Meanwhile, the investigation into the tragic killing of the 16 northerners continues, with 14 suspects arrested in connection with the crime.

The suspects were transferred to Abuja for further questioning, as confirmed by Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo.

The attack took place last Thursday when a group of northern hunters, traveling to Kano for Sallah celebrations, were ambushed by a mob.

Their vehicle was looted, and firearms were discovered before they were killed. The killings sparked outrage across the country, with widespread calls for swift justice.

Governor Okpebholo condemned the attack, calling it “unacceptable” and pledging that those responsible would be brought to justice.
