Vice-Admiral Ibok Ibas (retd), the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, conducted an inspection over the weekend of the Emohua and Ikwerre local government secretariats, both of which were damaged during the recent unrest in the state.

Ibas also assessed the vandalized facilities at the Rumueche Community General Hospital in Emohua, which had been completely destroyed and left overrun with weeds, as well as the Isiokpo Zonal Hospital, which was similarly in a deteriorated condition.

During the inspection, Ibas indicated that he would continue gathering critical information and evaluating existing infrastructure to plan for necessary interventions.

He explained that, after receiving reports from the permanent secretaries of various ministries, it became imperative for him to visit the affected areas to better understand the situation.

Ibas remarked: “We have many ongoing projects that we had the chance to review. You may also recall that some challenges have arisen in recent months. I needed to personally see the state of affairs. Having visited the sites, I will now go back and assess how best to address the challenges, while continuing to encourage the contractors managing the projects to adhere to the terms of the contract.”

Ibas emphasized the importance of peace and collaboration in ensuring progress and building a stable and prosperous state.

“A peaceful state brings prosperity to everyone. Not just for those within the state, but for Nigeria as a whole. We must all work together to make sure we create a state that we all love to live in,” he concluded.
