Operatives of the Rivers State Police Command clashed with members of the ‘Take It Back Movement’ who were protesting in Port Harcourt. The protesters had gathered at Isaac Boro Park, starting as early as 9 am, but were met with a significant police presence.
Despite the heavy security, the protesters remained firm.
“Nobody can tell us where not to gather, we are Rivers people,” some of them told the police.
In the course of the protest, police operatives allegedly beat several protesters and journalists present at the scene, and also fired teargas to disperse the crowd.
