The Enugu State High Court on Tuesday granted an interlocutory injunction restraining Mr. Michael Emeoha from presenting or parading himself as the Igwe of Amede Eha‑Amufu Autonomous Community in Isi‑Uzo Local Government Area of the state.

After hearing oral submissions from the plaintiff’s counsel, Ifeanyi Ogenyi, Esq., Justice C.C. Ani, PhD, ordered:

“That the defendants are hereby restrained either by themselves or their agents, privies, assigns, servants and representatives or any person howsoever called or described from coronating and or installing the 1st defendant as the traditional ruler of Amede Autonomous Community, Isiuzo Local Government Area of Enugu State pending the hearing and final determination of the substantive suit.”

On February 15, 2025, an Igweship election was held in which Michael Ikechukwu Emeoha emerged as Igwe‑elect, relying on a certificate of observation of election issued by the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Chieftaincy Affairs, Enugu State.

However, Chief Edeoga Simon Mgborogwu, who was elected on September 5, 2019, continues to assert his claim to the throne.

DAILY GAZETTE correspondent who was in court reports that the case has been adjourned to May 29, 2025, for further mention.
