Controversial hip-hop artist, Badmus Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has been remanded in Oke-Kura Correctional Centre in Ilorin, Kwara State, while he awaits the completion of his bail conditions.

The Kwara State Police Command brought Portable before Magistrate Sunday Adeniyi of the State Upper Area Court on Monday following a petition filed by fellow entertainer and Fuji musician, Okunola Saheed, known as Osupa.

According to the Police First Information Report (FIR), Osupa accused Portable of criminal defamation, criminal intimidation, inciting public disturbance, and cyberstalking.

Osupa claimed that Portable had used a live stream video to insult him, damaging his reputation by falsely accusing him of removing his music from streaming platforms like Apple Music and Spotify, thus preventing him from earning income.

Prosecutor Abubakar Issa requested that the court remand Portable in the correctional facility while the police continued their investigation into the matter.

Portable’s defense attorney, Barrister Adebayo Issac, argued that the defendant had been granted administrative bail by the police on Sunday.

He stressed that as a public figure with a known address, Portable would be available for trial if granted bail.

Adebayo cited Sections 172 (1) and 165 of the Administration of Criminal Justice System, asking the court to consider these provisions in granting bail.

Magistrate Adeniyi, in a brief ruling, granted Portable bail in the sum of N1 million, stipulating that one of his sureties must be the chairman of the PMAN.

The case was adjourned until April 30, 2025.

Reports indicate that Portable was transferred to Oke-Kura Custodial Centre, accompanied by two of his wives, pending the finalization of his bail conditions.

The arrest followed a live video session inside Portable’s car, during which he was taken into custody by police operatives on Saturday.

The command’s spokesperson, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi (SP), confirmed the development in a statement issued on Sunday night.

The incident has escalated the ongoing feud between Portable and Osupa, with allegations of copyright infringement fueling the conflict.

The dispute saw Portable publicly insulting Osupa in a viral video, where he accused the 55-year-old singer of sabotaging his earnings by removing his music from streaming platforms.

Portable further insulted Osupa in the video, stating: “This man dey try to bring down my shine! He be like a person wey dey chop snail with shell—him no get sense. Osupa na tortoise. When Apple Music and Spotify wan drop money for me, na him remove my song from platform make I no see money. Money matters caused the fight.”

“I was offended because I wanted to collect my money, and I heard they wanted to remove the music.”

After facing public backlash, Portable later issued a public apology in a video, saying, “King Saheed Osupa, my daddy, don’t be angry. Take me like a child to train.”

“He also stated that their dispute was merely a form of promotion, adding, “We are both promoting each other… please give me shows.”

However, Portable later retracted his apology when Saheed allegedly refused to accept it, claiming the apology had not changed the situation.
