A somber mood has descended on Nollywood following the shocking death of two actors in Owerri, Imo State, after attending a house party.

The incident, which occurred last Friday, happened shortly after the crew wrapped up a film shoot and gathered at the residence of one of their directors for a celebration.

Reports say the actors had eaten rice and consumed wine and Calypso during the party.

Four individuals were reportedly affected—two were found lifeless, while the remaining two were taken to the hospital in an unconscious state.

Medical sources say the surviving victims are now showing signs of recovery.

The situation took a more complex turn with a contradictory version offered by a man identified as Kaito Karisia.

According to him, the story given by the host of the party was “incoherent.”

Karisia explained that the host claimed he had left the others in the parlour and gone to bed. At approximately 4:00 a.m., he said he woke up to switch from generator power to electricity.

When he returned to the parlour, he allegedly found one individual dead and the others unconscious, prompting him to raise an alarm.

The Imo State Police Command has officially confirmed the occurrence. Police Public Relations Officer, Henry Okoye, said:

“The command is aware of the unfortunate incident of unnatural death. I can confirm that two people were pronounced dead while two others were hospitalised.”

Okoye further revealed that the state Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, has directed a thorough investigation into the matter.

He said an autopsy will be conducted on the deceased to establish the cause of death.

“The results will determine the next line of action on the matter,” he added.

While investigations are ongoing, sources have disclosed that some arrests have already been made, including members of the film production team and directors.

The names of the deceased actors remain undisclosed at the time of filing this report.
