Commercial flight operations are set to commence at the newly inaugurated Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport in Minna, Niger State, starting April 23, 2025.
This development follows a strategic partnership between the Niger State Government and Overland Airways Limited.
At a press briefing held in Minna, Captain Edward Boyo, CEO of Overland Airways, hailed the collaboration as a significant stride in fulfilling Governor Mohammed Umar Bago’s vision of infrastructural progress.
“This initiative reflects our shared commitment to enhancing national connectivity. Our collaboration with the state government demonstrates that strategic partnerships can bring development closer to the people,” Boyo said.
He further emphasized that the initiative would boost the state’s profile as a destination for trade, tourism, and investment.
Also speaking at the event, Alhaji Liman Katamba Kutigi, Chief Operating Officer of New Niger Aviation, described the project as more than just the launch of flight services.
“By partnering with Overland Airways, we are setting a new benchmark for regional air connectivity rooted in safety, reliability, and growth. Our goal is to establish Niger State as a key player in Nigeria’s aviation and logistics corridor,” he stated.
The commissioning of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport marks a critical component of the state’s broader plan to modernize infrastructure and spur economic transformation across the region.
The new routes will initially link Minna to Abuja and Lagos, offering improved access and mobility for residents and visitors alike.
