Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant issued a stark warning to Hezbollah’s newly appointed leader, Naim Qassem, suggesting his tenure would be short-lived.
In a post on X, Gallant described Qassem’s appointment as a “temporary” one, stating, “Not for long,” and declared that “the countdown has begun.”
During a visit to the Israeli military’s northern command, Gallant assessed that Hezbollah’s rocket capabilities have been severely diminished by recent Israeli strikes, estimating that only about 20% of its projectiles remain operational.

He noted that Hezbollah is no longer organized enough to launch coordinated attacks.
On Tuesday alone, Hezbollah reportedly fired around 60 projectiles into Israel, following a pattern of increased rocket fire in recent weeks, with some days seeing as many as 200 rockets launched.
In response, the Israeli military has conducted extensive air strikes targeting Hezbollah’s weapon production and storage facilities in Lebanon.
Gallant highlighted the effectiveness of Israeli forces, stating that they have driven Hezbollah out of border villages and dismantled crucial infrastructure.

In addition to rockets, the group possesses various missile types capable of reaching deep into Israeli territory.
Iran’s president has stated that while the country is not seeking war with Israel, it will retaliate against Israeli strikes.
