The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) announced last night that it has successfully restored bulk power supply to seven northern states via its repaired 330kV Ugwuaji-Apir transmission line 1.

In a statement from Ndidi Mbah, TCN’s General Manager for Public Affairs, it was revealed that repair work on the line was completed at 4:56 PM on Wednesday.

Mbah confirmed that with this restoration, the Apir-Lafia 330kV transmission line 2 is now operational, enabling bulk power transmission to Lafia, Makurdi, Jos, Kaduna, Kano, Bauchi, and Gombe States.

She further explained that restoration efforts will continue, with the TCN engineering team preparing to begin work on the second 330kV transmission line.

“All necessary materials for repairs are available, and work will commence once the site is secured for personnel safety.”

Meanwhile, linesmen will re-patrol the 330kV line 2 to ensure no additional sections are affected during the ongoing repairs.

Mbah expressed appreciation for the public’s patience and understanding, emphasizing TCN’s commitment to restoring electricity swiftly, which is vital for daily life in the affected areas.

The restoration comes after fifteen northern states experienced power outages due to bandit attacks on the Shiroro-Kaduna transmission lines and vandalism on the Ugwuaji-Apir transmission lines.
