The statement clarified that the audio does not represent any official communication from the police, emphasizing that WhatsApp, a reputable platform owned by Meta, would not announce changes through third-party sources.
CP Kanayo Uzuegbu expressed concern over the unauthorized use of his image in disseminating false information.
He announced that an intelligence-led investigation has been initiated to identify and prosecute those responsible for creating and circulating the misleading audio.
The police command reiterated its commitment to transparency and integrity, encouraging citizens to be vigilant and report any similar instances of misinformation.
It underscored the importance of verifying information before sharing, particularly when it involves public safety and trust.
