President Bola Tinubu has officially promoted Acting Chief of Army Staff, Olufemi Oluyede, to the rank of Lieutenant General in a brief ceremony at the Presidential office on Tuesday.
During the event, President Tinubu praised the Nigerian military for its steadfast dedication and contributions to the nation’s security.
He described the promotion as a recognition of Lt. Gen. Oluyede’s exceptional service and commitment to the military.

“It’s a great honor to decorate you today. This recognition speaks to your dedication and exemplary service to the armed forces,” President Tinubu said.
He assured the military that the government remains committed to supporting them and maintaining peace and stability in the country.
The President also highlighted the success in combating terrorism and banditry, crediting the strong collaboration among the armed forces.

He called for continued unity among the service chiefs to ensure sustained security and prosperity for the nation.
Lt. Gen. Oluyede expressed his gratitude for the honor and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the vision of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, and to preserving peace across Nigeria.
Oluyede, who was commissioned as a second lieutenant in 1992, has participated in key military operations, including the ECOMOG mission in Liberia and Operation Hadin Kai in the Northeast.
