Mainpower Electricity Distribution Limited (MEDL) has issued a reminder to its prepaid customers in Enugu State to complete their meter upgrades before November 24, 2024, to avoid losing access to their meters.

The notice was released on Friday by the company’s management.

The deadline is part of the global Token Identifier (TID) rollover initiative, which affects all Standard Transfer Specification (STS) compliant prepaid meters worldwide. MEDL emphasized that affected customers must recharge their meters to receive three separate 20-digit tokens, which are necessary for the upgrade process.

To upgrade, customers should enter the first set of 20 digits, press “enter,” then repeat the process for the second and third sets of 20 digits.

Failure to upgrade by the November 24 deadline will result in the meter no longer accepting credit tokens, and the meter will be deactivated.

MEDL clarified that there is no charge for the meter upgrade, and those who have already completed the upgrade are not affected by this notice.

Customers seeking further assistance can contact MEDL’s customer service at 0208 4700 100 or visit any Mainpower office for more details.
