Jude Nnam, a renowned Igbo gospel singer and National Music Director for the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), has reportedly been kidnapped.
The abduction occurred on Thursday evening around 6 pm in Umunnachi, Anambra State, where Nnam, also known as “Ancestor,” had traveled to attend a church event.
The news of the incident was first shared on Facebook by Catholic priest Rev. Fr. Augustine Mario on Friday.
He requested prayers for Nnam’s safe return, writing:
“Please kindly keep Sir Dr. Jude Nnam (Ancestor) in your prayers. He was allegedly kidnapped yesterday evening around 6 p.m. in Umunnachi, Anambra State. Sir Jude Nnam is the CAN National Music Director and a member of the National Liturgical Commission, CSN, etc. May God grant him safety and a swift release from his abductors. Amen.”
Another Catholic priest also confirmed the disturbing news, expressing frustration over the state of insecurity in the country.
“If this is true, then it is a huge shame,” he wrote. “I’m simply tired of this unfortunate space called Nigeria. Why this type of pain and frustration now? Anyway, I just hope this isn’t true. Jude Nnam Ancestor! It is well.”
