Kano residents are on edge following a heavy presence of police officers and plainclothes security personnel stationed at the entrance of the Kofa Kudu Emir’s palace.
The reason behind the increased security remains unclear, though it has led to a complete restriction of vehicular movement in the area.
Reports suggest that Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II is scheduled to host a crucial stakeholders’ meeting at the palace today.
The meeting is expected to address the controversial tax reform bill currently under consideration in the National Assembly.
Attempts to reach police spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, for comment have been unsuccessful.
