President-elect Donald Trump promised to implement sweeping changes to transgender policies on his first day in office, vowing to “stop the transgender lunacy” and take action against what he described as “gender confusion.”

Speaking at a young conservatives’ event in Phoenix, Arizona, Trump outlined several plans, including signing executive orders to ban transgender individuals from the military, restrict transgender rights in schools, and prohibit men from competing in women’s sports.

Trump declared, “It will be the official policy of the United States government that there are only two genders, male and female.”

His remarks, part of a broader speech addressing his second term agenda, came as part of the Republican Party’s ongoing efforts to curtail LGBTQ rights, particularly transgender rights, in the face of rising state-level debates.

In addition to his stance on transgender issues, Trump promised to tackle “migrant crime” by launching a large-scale deportation effort and classifying drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations.
