The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, December 25, Thursday, December 26, 2024, and Wednesday, January 1, 2025, as public holidays in observance of Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day.
In a statement issued on Monday in Abuja, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, announced that the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo extended his warm greetings to Nigerians, encouraging them to reflect on the values of love, peace, and unity that the season represents.
He emphasized that the festive period is an opportunity to foster harmony and strengthen relationships within families and communities.
The Minister also called on Nigerians to remain committed to peace, unity, and national progress, noting that the Christmas season is a time for both spiritual reflection and national renewal.
“Let us demonstrate kindness and goodwill to one another, regardless of our differences, as we celebrate the birth of Jesus, the Prince of Peace,” Dr. Tunji-Ojo urged.
He further assured citizens of the government’s ongoing efforts to ensure peace, security, and prosperity across the country.
The Minister expressed confidence that President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda would lead to a prosperous 2025, bringing a brighter future for Nigeria and its people.
