Timi Frank, a former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has accused the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, of targeting opposition figures in a move to benefit President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections.
Frank claimed that opposition members intending to contest against Tinubu in 2027 should prepare for Wike’s alleged vendetta, which he believes will involve the revocation of land titles in the nation’s capital.
He further alleged that individuals who have opposed Wike’s actions in Rivers State may also face similar treatment.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Frank dismissed the revocation of the Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) of former President Muhammadu Buhari, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, as nothing more than a “Nollywood script.”
“We have intelligence at our disposal that the list of land allottees whose C of O have purportedly been revoked by Wike is part of his grand strategy to harass and intimidate members of opposition political parties and others that may want to contest against President Bola Tinubu in 2027,” Frank said.
Frank pointed out that Buhari has denied owning the land that was allegedly revoked, and Abbas has denied any indebtedness to the FCTA.
He added: “Every sane Nigerian knows that Wike, as a minister in Tinubu’s administration, dare not revoke lands belonging to key officials in this administration listed by Wike. Therefore, Wike is using their names as a cover to deflect the criticism of his land-grabbing spree and his demolitions of properties in the FCT that have been targeted at poor and innocent Nigerians.”
Frank challenged Wike to provide evidence that the APC members listed in the revocation actually owned the lands that were said to have been seized.
“What he is doing in FCT is not different from what he did in Rivers State as Governor where he revoked C of O of lands of his political opponents and demolished their property,” Frank stated.
