The Executive Chairman of Nkanu West Local Government Area, Hon. John Ogbodo, has presented a historic budget proposal of ₦4,705,800,000 for the 2025 fiscal year to the Nkanu West LG Legislative Council.
The budget, titled “Budget of Hope,” was presented today at the Council Headquarters in Agbani.
Hon. Ogbodo emphasized that the proposed budget is designed to address critical needs across various sectors, including health, power, water, agriculture, and sanitation.
In his address, the chairman assured the councilors that his administration would remain committed to due process, equity, transparency, and accountability.
He stressed that these principles would guide the effective execution of the budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility and value for money.
Hon. Ogbodo expressed confidence that, with a strong commitment to delivering democracy dividends, his administration would improve the lives of the people, particularly in areas such as youth employment, poverty reduction, and the creation of a peaceful and prosperous environment for the people of Nkanu West.
The chairman aligned his vision with the disruptive innovation agenda of Governor Peter Mbah, affirming that his administration would strive to align the development of Nkanu West with the overall growth and progress of Enugu State.
He further emphasized that the 2025 budget would prioritize projects that are consistent with the state government’s development agenda.
Hon. Ogbodo also thanked Governor Mbah for his ongoing developmental efforts in Nkanu West and across the state, acknowledging the governor’s transformative leadership.
He expressed gratitude to the Leader of the Legislative Council, Onyekachi Nnamani, and other councilors for their cooperation and support since his assumption of office.
He hoped that the good working relationship would continue throughout his tenure.
Earlier, Hon. Nnamani highlighted several ongoing projects, including the near completion of a modern abattoir at the Eke Agbani market, the drilling of two solar-powered boreholes, as well as the grading and laterite surfacing of several hinterland roads, among others.
He assured the chairman of the council’s full support and the swift passage of the budget.
The budget presentation was attended by various stakeholders, party members, heads of departments, and other distinguished guests.
