Kano State is in mourning following the sudden death of Ahmad Bunkure, who had just been appointed as the Special Adviser on Works to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

Bunkure passed away on Wednesday in Egypt, just 24 hours after taking the oath of office.

The tragic news was confirmed in a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi DawakinTofa, on Wednesday.

Governor Yusuf expressed profound sorrow over the loss, describing it as a devastating blow to the state, his family, and the broader political community.

In his message of condolence, the governor said, “Bunkure was a dedicated professional whose skills and contributions were vital to our administration’s development agenda.

His sudden death is a deep loss, and we pray for Allah’s mercy on his soul and strength for his family during this painful time.”

Bunkure’s death came as a shock, especially given that he had just been sworn in as Special Adviser on Works the day before.

His passing has prompted an outpouring of condolences, including from Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, the national leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement, and other members of the Kano State Government.
