President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is currently engaged in a closed-door meeting with Wang Yi, the Foreign Minister of China, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Wang Yi, a senior member of China’s Communist Party, is in Nigeria for a two-day working visit.
Upon his arrival at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, the Chinese Foreign Minister was welcomed by Dunoma Umar Ahmed, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The ongoing discussions focus on the implementation of agreements from the 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit held in China.
Key areas under discussion include economic collaboration, political relations, and the oil and gas sector. Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, is also present at the talks.
Both ministers are expected to address the press following the meeting.
