A 45-year-old primary school teacher, Stella Nwadiggbo, has been remanded in custody by an Ogba Chief Magistrate’s Court in Lagos State for allegedly assaulting a three-year-old pupil in the Ikorodu area.
The incident, which occurred in a classroom, was captured in a viral video showing the teacher slapping the child.
Following the video’s circulation, Nwadiggbo was arrested by the Family Support Unit (FSU) of Ikorodu Police Division.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed that Nwadiggbo was charged with indecent treatment and assault of a child.
She was arraigned before the Magistrate’s Court in Ogba on Thursday, January 8, 2025.
Hundeyin also stated that after her arrest, the teacher was transferred to the Gender Unit at the Command Headquarters, while the child received medical attention.
Nwadiggbo has been remanded in the Kirikiri Correctional Facility until her next hearing on February 18, 2025.
