Gunmen suspected to be terrorists have attacked the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) facilities in Kebbi State, resulting in the deaths of four individuals.
The assault occurred on the evening of January 10, around 7:20 PM, at the Kangiwa border in Kangiwa Local Government Area.
According to NIS Public Relations Officer, Kenneth Udo, the victims included a local watchman and three contractors working on-site.
Fortunately, no immigration officers were killed or injured during the attack.
However, significant damage was reported to security infrastructure at the facility.
Udo, who is a Deputy Comptroller of Immigration, expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and assured the public that efforts were underway to apprehend those responsible.
He emphasized that the NIS, in collaboration with other security agencies, is committed to tracking down the attackers and bringing them to justice.
Despite the tragic incident, Udo reaffirmed the NIS’s determination to continue fulfilling its primary role of securing Nigeria’s borders and contributing to national security.
