Controversial Nigerian rapper, Darlington Achakpo, better known as Speed Darlington, has regained his freedom after spending two months in police custody.

The news of his release was shared by his lawyer on Instagram, who expressed gratitude to all those who supported his release.

In the post, the lawyer wrote, “We are pleased to announce that our client, Mr. Darlington Achakpo (aka Speed Darlington), has been freed after two months of unlawful detention.”

The statement continued, “As his legal team, we are committed to pursuing all legal avenues to ensure justice for the violation of his fundamental rights and the mistreatment he endured in custody.

“We also extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported Speed Darlington throughout this ordeal, with special appreciation to my esteemed colleagues, Mr. Marshal Abubakar Esq., Barr Deji Adeyanju, Barr Hamza Nuh, and Barr David.”

Speed Darlington’s arrest occurred on November 27, following a performance in Owerri, Imo State.

Sources suggest the arrest was linked to an alleged verbal altercation with Afrofusion star, Burna Boy, whose real name is Damini Ogulu.
