The Ayo Adebanjo-led faction of Afenifere, the Yoruba socio-political group, has appointed lawyer and activist Dele Farotimi as its National Organising Secretary.
The decision was made during a general meeting held on Tuesday at Pa Adebanjo’s residence in Isanya Ogbo, Ogun State.
This was announced in a communiqué issued after the meeting, signed by Afenifere’s Deputy Leader, Oba Oladipo Olaitan, and National Publicity Secretary, Prince Justice Faloye.
“The General Meeting considered and approved the appointment of Barrister Dele Farotimi as the National Organising Secretary of the Afenifere,” the statement read.
Farotimi’s appointment coincides with recent developments involving him and legal luminary Aare Afe Babalola.
Just a day earlier, Babalola agreed to withdraw a defamation lawsuit filed against Farotimi over claims made in his book, Nigeria and Its Criminal Justice System.
Farotimi had been arraigned before an Ekiti State High Court in Ado-Ekiti and was granted bail in the sum of ₦30 million.
