Senator Ned Nwoko, who represents Delta North senatorial district at the National Assembly, has denied rumours suggesting that he is planning to marry Nollywood actress Chika Ike as his seventh wife or that she is expecting his child.
The speculation, which has gained traction online, also linked the alleged marriage to his current wife, Regina Daniels, who recently deactivated her Instagram account.
Reports claim Daniels deleted her account after news surfaced that Nwoko had fathered a child with Ike, who had shared photos of her baby bump on social media.
In response, Nwoko’s communications office released a statement on Monday dismissing the claims as false.
“These baseless claims are a product of malicious speculation,” the statement read.
Additionally, the senator refuted reports that linked him to comments about singer Tuface Idibia and polygamy. He described such claims as completely untrue.
A viral report had alleged that Nwoko praised Tuface for embracing polygamy, supposedly calling it a way to maintain balance and avoid infidelity.
The report falsely attributed the following statement to him:
“2face is a real representation of the African man. Wealth is defined by how many wives and children you have. Yes, they are at the forefront of your success as a man. Do you also see how he proposed to Natasha, without kneeling down?”
Clarifying the matter, the senator’s office stated:
“As a public figure, and with his wife also being an actress, it is not unusual for bloggers seeking attention to fabricate such stories.”
The statement further emphasized that Nwoko remains focused on his political responsibilities, dismissing the rumours as distractions.
“However, Senator Nwoko is currently on a national assignment, focused on delivering on his political mandate, and has no time for distractions. This office remains available to journalists for verification of information, and we remind media practitioners of the consequences of spreading fake news. The public is advised to disregard these rumours and rely only on official statements from his office.”
The statement urged the public to be cautious of misleading reports and trust only verified sources for information.
