Enugu State Collation Officer for the People’s Redemption Party, PRP, inĀ the 2023 general elections, Mr. Anthony Ejiagu, has said that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, conducted the March 18, 2023, election in substantial breach of the 2022 Electoral Act.
Ejiagu said that the election which should not have exceeded two days, lasted four days before INEC returned with the results which it took to Abuja, where it was mutilated in favour of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
The governorship candidate of the party, Elder Chris Agu and the PRP, had dragged the INEC, the PDP and Governor Peter Mbah to the Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal, noting that the party won the election.
PRP further added that Mbah was not qualified to contest the election, having forged his NYSC Discharge Certificate.
“Mbah contested the election wearing the garb of an ex- convict, having pleaded guilty in a case of money laundering and fraud, involving him and the EFCC” he concluded.
On his part, Ejiagu told the Tribunal that INEC did a bad job during the election, adding that election took place in most of the Polling Units in the state without the the electoral empire, providing the result sheets.
He maintained that his party, the PRP won the overall votes cast in the election, but INEC manipulated the process to deny her victory.
Ejiagu also told the three – member Tribunal headed by Justice Kudirat Akano that the PRP agents were not given copies of the polling unit result sheets.
“The result of the election was taken to Abuja where INEC top notchers slashed the figures collated and awarded results to the PDP before it was brought back to Enugu where theĀ mutilated results were announced in favour of Mr. Peter Mba”.
