In a move signaling readiness for the upcoming presidential race, Joe Biden has expressed his willingness to engage in a debate with his White House rival, Donald Trump, ahead of their likely rematch in November.
Debates between presidential candidates have long been pivotal moments in US elections, shaping public perceptions of their personalities and policies.

Biden, speaking to radio host Howard Stern, affirmed his readiness for a debate, though the timing remains uncertain.
“I am happy to debate him,” Biden stated, adding, “I am, somewhere. I don’t know when.”
The response from the Trump campaign was swift, with advisor Chis LaCivita expressing enthusiasm on social media for arranging the debate.
While Trump declined primary debates during the 2024 cycle, he has eagerly expressed his willingness to engage with Biden, indicating his readiness for a debate “ANYTIME, ANYWHERE, ANYPLACE!”
Biden, who has characterized Trump as a threat to democracy, emphasized that any agreement to debate depends on Trump’s behavior.
The Commission on Presidential Debates has already set up three dates and locations for the candidates to face off in September and October.
However, Trump has criticized the commission’s handling of debates, particularly during the 2020 election, when plans for a virtual debate were met with opposition.
The prospect of a verbal exchange presents an opportunity for both candidates to showcase their stamina. Biden, at 81, faces lingering doubts about his energy levels, while Trump, 77, contends with past criticisms of his demeanor, including online ridicule for appearing to nod off during a recent trial.
