The Benue State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of Dr. Emmanuel Barki, the acting Rector of Benue State Polytechnic, Ugbokolo.
According to the Public Relations Officer, Mr. Sewuese Anene, Dr. Barki was kidnapped along with several others while returning to Ugbokolo from an official trip to Makurdi.

The abductees include management staff of the polytechnic and their driver.
Sources from the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that the kidnappers forced their victims into the bush, leaving their vehicle abandoned on the highway.
Chief Joseph Har, Adviser to the Governor on Internal Security, also confirmed the incident and stated that security personnel have initiated efforts to rescue the victims.
