Amina Kachalla, the wife of the detained aide, has appealed for her husband’s release, emphasizing their financial dependency on him and the hardship his arrest has caused.
Borno State Police Command spokesman Kenneth Daso confirmed the arrests, stating they were made based on intelligence reports.
He noted that investigations are ongoing and promised to provide updates on the case.

The police did not specify the charges but local sources suggest the arrests are linked to an aborted solidarity rally.
The rally, organized in support of Senator Ndume following his removal as Senate Chief Whip, was scheduled for July 28 in Biu.
It was canceled due to security concerns and a potential conflict with a planned nationwide protest.

A press release from Ndume’s Senior Legislative Aide (Media), Junaid Jubrin Maiva, confirmed the cancellation of the rally, citing security issues and potential disruptions.
Family sources reported that the three men were apprehended by armed police last Sunday in Biu and transported to Maiduguri for questioning.
The police have obtained a court order for their detention while the investigation continues.

The arrests have sparked unrest among Senator Ndume’s supporters in southern Borno, who view the actions as a targeted attack rather than a legitimate security measure.
