A businessman was killed by a stray bullet amid a violent protest in the Yauri local government area of Kebbi State.
The incident occurred near the Yauri River, where marine police allegedly fired shots to disperse the protesters.

The victim, who sold plastics in his shop, was hit by a stray bullet and died instantly.
Malam Umar Bako Yelwa, a local source, confirmed the incident, stating that the protest turned violent when demonstrators blocked the federal highway, causing significant traffic disruption into Yauri town.
As marine police attempted to control the situation, bullets were fired, resulting in the tragic death of the businessman, whose name has not yet been identified.

Efforts to obtain a response from the Kebbi State Police Command were unsuccessful, as SP Nafiu Abubakar, the police spokesperson, did not answer calls or respond to text messages seeking comments.
Despite the unrest in Yauri, the situation in the state capital, Birnin Kebbi, remains calm following the protracted protests in some parts of the town.
