The Enugu State Chapter of the Labour Party, LP, has condemned the murder of Hon. Duhu Nelson Sylvester Nnacheta, Councilor representing Eha-Ulo Ehalumona Ward in Nsukka Local Government Legislative Council.
Nnacheta was killed by gunmen on Sunday night at his residence in Eha-Alumona
In a statement signed by the state chairman of the party, Barr. Casmir Uchenna Agbo, the party called on security agencies to fish out the perpetrators of the heinous crime and make them face the full weight of the law.
“LP Enugu State received with heavy shock the mindless and gruesome murder of Hon. Sylvester Nelson, Ofunwa, who was until his death the Counselor representing Eha-Uno ward in Nsukka local government Area of Enugu state.”
“We totally and unequivocally condemn the killing and the general atmosphere of violence and insecurities in the State.”
“While we commiserate with his immediate family particularly his aged parents, wife and children, we are calling on security agencies to wade into the matter so as to fish out his killers.”
“It’s our prayers that God Almighty will grant his soul eternal repose.”
Daily Gazette recall that the Enugu state Police command had on Monday arrested one of the suspects involved in the murder of the lawmaker, while intense investigation and manhunt of other assailants are currently ongoing.
