Gunshots were fired near former U.S. President Donald Trump on Sunday while he was at his golf club in West Palm Beach, Florida, his campaign confirmed.

“President Trump is safe following gunshots in his vicinity. No further details at this time,” said Steven Cheung, Trump’s campaign spokesman, in a brief statement.

According to reports from the New York Post, two individuals were involved in a shootout outside Trump’s golf resort.

Authorities clarified that the gunfire was not directed at Trump.

Trump was playing golf at the time of the incident, with the resort located just a short distance from his main residence at Mar-a-Lago.

This event comes two months after a previous assassination attempt against Trump.

In July, gunman Thomas Crooks opened fire during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, with one bullet grazing Trump’s ear, though he avoided serious injury.
