The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Yola Zone, has condemned the termination of approximately 120 lecturers from various universities who participated in the 2021 national strike.
Dani Mammam, ASUU Yola Zone Coordinator, identified the affected institutions as Federal University of Technology Owerri, Lagos State University, Ebonyi State University, Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma, Prince Abubakar Audu University, and Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University.

Mammam argued that the dismissals are an infringement on the lecturers’ right to protest for improved working conditions and constitute a breach of human rights and academic freedom.
He called for the immediate reinstatement of the affected lecturers and the release of their withheld salaries.
