President Bola Tinubu visited Maiduguri on Monday to sympathize with the victims of the recent flood disaster, which claimed at least 30 lives, displaced over two million people, and caused extensive property damage.
The president assured that the federal government would provide full support to Borno State and other affected regions to help alleviate the victims’ suffering.

During his visit, President Tinubu met with Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum, the Shehu of Borno, Dr. Abubakar Garbai Al-Amin Elkanemi, and some of the flood victims.
He expressed his condolences and pledged that the federal government would extend all necessary assistance to the flood-hit communities.
Speaking to the victims at Government College, Tinubu said, “I came personally to sympathize with you, despite being away on official duty when the news of the disaster broke. The federal government stands ready to provide maximum support to all those affected by this tragedy.”

The president also praised the efforts of Governor Zulum, the Shehu of Borno, and other local leaders for their swift response to the crisis.
He further highlighted the federal government’s earlier provision of N3 billion to each state, which Borno has already begun using to aid vulnerable groups affected by the floods.
In response, Governor Zulum thanked President Tinubu for his visit and ongoing support, acknowledging that the funds had been crucial in addressing the disaster’s immediate impact.

The Shehu of Borno also expressed gratitude for the government’s swift response and support for traditional institutions and the flood victims.
President Tinubu was accompanied by a high-profile delegation that included Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Kwara State Governor and Chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum Abdurahman Abdulrazak, and the governors of Kogi, Bauchi, and Sokoto states, alongside ministers and other dignitaries.
