Police operatives in Imo State successfully thwarted an attack on the Njaba Divisional Headquarters by suspected members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN).
The Commissioner of Police in Imo, Aboki Danjuma, confirmed the incident during a press briefing in Owerri.

Danjuma revealed that the assailants, arriving in three SUVs, launched a surprise assault on the station, firing indiscriminately.
However, the police swiftly responded, taking defensive positions and engaging the attackers in a gunfight.
Three of the suspected terrorists were killed, while the others, injured by gunfire, managed to escape into the surrounding bushes.

During the operation, police recovered several items, including a General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG), an AK-47 rifle, and three vehicles: a Toyota Lexus 470, a Mercedes GLK, and a Toyota Venza.
The commissioner added that a manhunt is currently underway to capture the fleeing suspects and ensure they are brought to justice.
