As the Edo State governorship election on September 21, 2024, approaches, political stakeholder, Mr. Nosa Osaikhuiwu has called on voters to support Labour Party (LP) candidate, Mr. Olumide Akpata, to bring about positive change in the state.

Osaikhuiwu criticized the 24-year rule of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing both parties of failing to improve the lives of Edo citizens.

In a statement, Osaikhuiwu expressed concern over the high levels of poverty, unemployment, poor infrastructure, and insecurity, which he attributed to the poor governance of past administrations under the PDP and APC.

According to him, the state has long been in an economic and political wilderness, and the upcoming election is a pivotal opportunity for change.

“The people of Edo State have suffered under the incompetence and corruption of PDP and APC for too long. These parties have offered nothing but empty promises, and the residents continue to face untold hardships, from a lack of basic services like power, job opportunities, and good roads to rising food prices,” Osaikhuiwu stated.

He urged the electorate to reject the corrupt political duopoly and choose a new path under Akpata and the Labour Party.

Osaikhuiwu emphasized that the state needs a leader committed to addressing the challenges facing the people and restoring the glory of Edo State.

He cited the late Brigadier General Samuel Ogbemudia’s transformational leadership as an example of the kind of governance the state needs today, highlighting the promise Akpata brings for similar progress.

Osaikhuiwu also warned against being swayed by last-minute handouts from APC or PDP candidates, calling them “political hyenas” who care only about enriching themselves at the expense of the people.

He encouraged voters to remember the failings of the last 24 years under both parties and to use their ballots wisely.

“Voting for PDP or APC again and expecting a different result is the definition of political insanity. Edo State deserves better, and that future is with the Labour Party and Olumide Akpata. Let’s end the cycle of failed leadership and create a state that truly works for its people,” Osaikhuiwu concluded.

He urged voters to prioritize infrastructure development, economic improvement, and a better quality of life by casting their votes for Akpata, stressing that the future of Edo depends on the decision they make in the upcoming election.
