The House of Representatives has issued summons to several key figures in the ongoing bribery scandal involving the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigerian Correctional Service.
EFCC Chairman, the Comptroller General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Bobrisky, and social media influencer VeryDarkMan are among those invited for questioning.
This move comes following an alarming corruption accusation that has cast doubt on the integrity of the EFCC and Nigerian Correctional Service officials.

The summons was issued on Friday in a letter by Jon Ginger Onwusibe, the Lead Chairman of the joint committee, requesting the attendance of those involved in the prosecution of Bobrisky.
Other officials mentioned in the invitation include ACG Ben Rabbi Freedman, former Controller of Corrections at Lagos Command, Ja’afaru Ahmed, Secretary Board, Michael Anugwa, DCC in charge of Medium Security, and Sikiru Adekunle, DCC in charge of Maximum Security.

In April, the EFCC arrested Bobrisky on charges of money laundering and Naira mutilation.
During his trial at the Federal High Court in Lagos, Justice Abimbola Awogboro dismissed the money laundering charges but sentenced Bobrisky to six months in prison for currency abuse.
However, the case took a new turn when Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, leaked an audio recording on Instagram in which Bobrisky allegedly discussed how EFCC officials extorted N15 million from him in exchange for dropping the money laundering charges.

In the audio, Bobrisky allegedly admitted to bribing officials, which led VeryDarkMan to release the recording after Bobrisky allegedly refused to repay a N4 million loan used to raise the N15 million bribe.
In response to the serious allegations, EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede ordered an immediate investigation into the claims.
He also called on both Bobrisky and VeryDarkMan to appear at the EFCC’s Lagos office to assist in the inquiry.
