Lagos police authorities have summoned three officers accused of extorting N1 million from corps members in the Surulere area of Lagos.
The incident, which has garnered widespread attention, was captured in a video that circulated on social media late Friday.
According to Oluyemi Fasipe, a social media user who posted the footage, the officers allegedly extorted the money from the corps members after threatening them with firearms.

The corps members were reportedly detained and taken to the Kafaru Oluwole Tinubu House Area C Police Command, where they were further robbed.
Fasipe claimed their only “offense” was not having a physical copy of their driver’s license.
“Dear @BenHundeyin, Your officers today in Surulere extorted 1 million naira from three corps members,” Fasipe wrote. “They were kidnapped, threatened with firearms, and robbed at the police station. This is evil!”

In one of the videos, police officers could be seen checking the car’s occupants’ documents. Tensions escalated when more officers arrived at the scene.
One officer was later seen entering the vehicle while instructing the corps members to stop recording the incident and forbidding them from contacting their loved ones.
Following the release of the footage, Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, confirmed that the involved officers had been summoned and that their trial had begun.

“We urge the complainants to visit the Complaint Response Unit at the State Headquarters to testify at the ongoing trial,” Hundeyin added in his response to Fasipe’s post on X.
The case is currently under investigation.
