The Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) has announced Hon. Uzodinma Nwafor of the Action Alliance (AA) as the winner of the chairmanship election in Etche Local Government Area during the recent local government polls in Rivers State.

This outcome marks a significant deviation from the overall results, as the Action Peoples Party secured victory in 22 out of the 23 local government areas.

Etche stands as the only exception, where a different party emerged victorious.

Hon. Nwafor, along with other chairmen-elect, is currently present at the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission’s office, where they will soon receive certificates of return.

Later today, at 4pm, Governor Siminalayi Fubara will swear in the newly elected chairmen in a ceremony at the Executive Council Chambers of Government House, Port Harcourt.

In an official statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Tammy Wenike Danagogo, it was confirmed that the governor will proceed with the swearing-in of the council chairmen this afternoon, Sunday, October 6, 2024.
