Donald Trump has lost his edge over Kamala Harris in key economic areas, according to new polls.
With early voting already underway ahead of the November 5 presidential election, a recent Associated Press/NORC poll indicates that Harris, the Democratic nominee, has gained a slight lead over Trump, the Republican nominee, on economic issues important to middle-class voters.
The latest poll builds on a trend observed last month when Harris had nearly erased Trump’s lead on who was better suited to handle the economy.

The economy remains the top concern for voters in this election.
In this recent survey, 46% of respondents favored Harris’s policies on middle-class taxes, while 35% sided with Trump.
Harris also holds a narrow lead on the issue of housing costs, and voters are evenly divided on which candidate has better solutions for rising grocery and fuel prices, job creation, and addressing unemployment.

Despite Harris’s boost, 62% of voters still believe the economy is in poor condition, though this marks an improvement from last year when nearly 75% held the same view.
The Trump campaign has emphasized inflation and the rising cost of living as central critiques of President Joe Biden’s administration.
Since Harris replaced Biden as the Democratic nominee in July, she has countered with her “opportunity economy” platform, which includes a proposal to offer first-time homebuyers $25,000 towards a down payment.

Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson echoed the economic focus in a CNN interview on Sunday, downplaying concerns about Trump’s controversial campaign behavior, which recently included cutting off audience questions and awkwardly shuffling to music for nearly 40 minutes during a town hall event.
