Anambra State Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has extended his condolences to the families of the victims of the recent cult-related violence in the Nibo community of Awka South LGA.

This tragic incident, which occurred during the community’s New Yam festival, left at least 13 individuals dead.

During his routine inspection of activities at Eke Market in Awka on Monday, Soludo expressed his sorrow over the loss of lives and promised to bring those responsible for the violence to justice.

He emphasized the state’s commitment to combatting cultism, stating that no matter where the perpetrators attempt to hide, they will be apprehended.

“Every avoidable loss of life in Anambra shatters my heart, especially when young lives are cut short. The mindless violence between rival cults in our communities is heartbreaking,” he remarked.

The governor condemned the violent clash in Nibo as unacceptable and reiterated the existence of an anti-cultism law aimed at addressing such issues.

He has called for immediate action against those involved in the killings.

Soludo also appealed to parents and community leaders to collaborate in protecting the youth from the dangers of cultism.

“We can’t sit back while our children destroy themselves. Let’s take action at home and in our communities to end cultism,” he urged.
