The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors Forum is set to meet in Abuja on Tuesday for a crucial gathering ahead of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting scheduled for Thursday.

The meeting will address key issues within the party and determine the agenda for the upcoming NEC meeting.

In preparation for the NEC meeting, the Olagunsoye Oyinlola-led PDP Reconciliation Committee met at the NEC Hall of the PDP National Secretariat on Monday to finalize its report.

The committee is expected to brief the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) on its findings and potential recommendations.

Following this, the NWC will review the report and present it to the NEC for approval.

Speaking after a lengthy meeting with the PDP National Assembly Caucus, Oyinlola shared insights into the committee’s work, emphasizing the need to understand the causes behind the party’s dwindling political fortunes.

“We’ve had useful discussions, and I believe we have gathered suggestions that will help unite our party and make it formidable,” he said.

Oyinlola also highlighted the importance of unity within the party to succeed in future political contests.

“For any party to enter a political battle and win, it must be united. That’s what we’re aiming for,” he added.

On the upcoming Ondo governorship election, Oyinlola noted that the South-West had been a focal point during the committee’s work.

“The National Reconciliation Committee has toured the South-West, and the Ondo election came up prominently. We are putting our strategies in place,” he said.

When asked about the committee’s role in reconciling party members, Oyinlola clarified, “Anyone within the party who has a disagreement with someone else, those are the individuals we’re reconciling.”

He also addressed rumors of possible suspensions within the party, dismissing them as speculation for now.

“As far as we’re concerned, I would take that as a rumor for now. We’re meeting with the National Working Committee tomorrow, so after that, you can ask me again,” he said.
