Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has announced an increase in the minimum wage to N80,000 for state government employees.
To facilitate the implementation of this adjustment, the Governor has set up an Implementation Committee tasked with developing a detailed execution plan within a month.

The committee, led by the State’s Head of Civil Service, includes key members such as the State Accountant General, the State Chairman of the Joint Public Service Negotiating Council, and representatives from the Nigeria Labour Congress, Trade Union Congress, and the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees.
Ini Ememobong, Akwa Ibom’s Commissioner for Information, confirmed the new wage as a testament to the government’s dedication to enhancing workers’ welfare.

Meanwhile, in Kebbi State, Governor Nasir Idris has also raised the minimum wage, setting it at N75,000 for the state’s lowest-paid civil servants.
Governor Idris formalized this decision by signing the state’s minimum wage edict into law during a ceremony at the state house.
The event was attended by national leaders of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), including President Joe Ajaero.
